Part 1-- Chapter One: What Is Faith

Excerpts from My Book Faith Unto Salvation, is it a Confession or an Experience?

What is Faith? A Journey Beyond Sight and Reason

Faith. A simple word, yet one that holds the power to shape destinies, move mountains, and anchor souls in the storm.

But what is faith, truly? Is it merely a belief, a spoken confession, or something deeper—something that transcends the tangible and steps into the realm of the unseen?

In a world where sight and reason govern decisions, faith stands as a paradox, calling us to trust in what we cannot see and to walk where there seems to be no path. The Bible tells us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1), but how does this apply to our daily lives?

Join me as we explore the essence of faith—not just as a concept, but as a living, breathing journey that defines our relationship with God and our walk toward eternity.

To fully grasp this concept, the Lord provided me with a tangible example: baking a cake. This process begins with the gathering of ingredients—flour, milk, eggs, sugar, butter, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract—and takes into consideration the baking temperature and duration. This method is crucial; these ingredients are the substance required to create a cake, with the hope that if I adhere precisely to the recipe, my taste buds will soon be satisfied. The "anticipation and expectation" of tasting the finished product serve as "Evidence" of things not seen as yet.

Similarly, the spiritual essence of faith is embodied in the act of "Asking."(which is Prayer) Understanding this might seem quite simple, but as one delves deeper into the understanding of Faith, its simplicity becomes clear. One would not ask the Lord for something without the belief—or the anticipation, or the expectation—that He will listen. Thus, asking, seeking, and knocking bring forth the substance of faith. As (Matthew 7:7) states, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

Conclusion: Faith is not passive—it is active, alive, and expectant. The very act of asking (Prayer) acknowledges God’s sovereignty, seeking affirms our trust in His promises, and knocking demonstrates perseverance in His truth, for there are times we must continue to Seek and to knock this doesn't mean we don't have Faith. When we approach Him with unwavering belief, we step into the reality of His divine provision.

Let us then walk boldly in faith, knowing that He who invites us to ask, seek, and knock is faithful to respond. The doors He opens, no man can shut.
